Heather Topham 7th hour
Walking into the room awaiting the blow, of homework to be served to us, we didn't know. But as it turns out Mr. Becker was sick at the beginning of the day he was feeling "ick" So our assignment was indeed to be to start the book "Rebecca", yeppie! The class began arguing and started to say how weird this book sounded and said "no way!" Sitting back to watch the arguing begin Mr. Becker soaked it in. We were wasting OUR time he had giving us to read, so we simmered down, and finally started our deed. For almost a straight hour we read, it was as silent as the dead. Til the bell rang an eery sound, then high school students scrambled around. And as we left our English lV, we took with us book knowledge and more
I walked in early as usual noticing the pile of books assembled for us on the table. as the bell rang most of us were already expressing our less than content feelings about "Rebecca" our new book. Mr. D took up his duties and began to introduce the book by saying " well this is Rebecca... i guess its... (while reading the front cover) a novel of suspenseful romance..." he told us to begin reading, but none of the class really started until we had given him our book numbers. when we were finished Mr. D gave us an incentive to read quietly (five minutes to talk at the end of class). After fifteen minuttes of quiet reading someone in the other room started clapping and during the moment of distraction, someone asked "how much do we have to read?" Mr. D said forty-three pages, which sparked all sorts of Enthusiasm until he also explained it was due tuesday. we all started reading again with an almost vigorous pace. ten minutes before I left the being known only as Jason Becker entered the room like he owned the joint. (well i guess he kinda' does...)

Dakota D.,1st Hour
We walk into the classroom.
Becker is nowhere to be seen.
The air of excitement begins to loom.
Up stands Mr. Daughtery, tall and lean.
He tell us of our new book
Rebecca we must begin, boredom is foreseen.
At the cover I look,
before I reluctantly begin to read.
I soon desire a quiet nook.
After we get our novels the hour is freed
to do as we want,
to do as we need.
