As i walked into 7th hour today i looked at the Smart Board and saw that we were going to be taking a reading quiz. Thankfully I read the section i thought to myself. As the bell rang Mr. Becker instructed us to get out half a sheet a paper for the quiz. As we were taking the quiz Mr. Becker quietly pulled his cell phone out of his pocket twice, which then made me want to get mine out! Mr. becker then had us turn in our quizzes and we started discussion. During the discussion Travis commented and said that he thought Julia was "bound to a pole" and carried out of the room. Mr. Becker then started laughing along with the rest of the class. Then Josh and Mr. Becker got off topic and started talking about zombies, Mr. Becker made an attempt to act like a zombie and the whole class laughed yet again. As i looked up at the clock it was 2:17, three minutes until my day can officially start. Everybody started packing up and waiting anxiously for the bell to ring, yet to come back another day.

The first class of the day always and interesting experience, it usually is a prelude to how the rest of the day will go. Walking into Mr. Becker’s class I realize there is only one other person in the class with me, I’m early, also joy of joys I have scribe notes today. Anyway people filter into the dismal class as the bell rings and begin to sink into their morning stupor, the daze of school hangs over the class like a cloying mist seeping into our pores, and even deeper into our very pores. Without preamble Mr. Becker breaks the spell on the class with some new if not welcome news. We have a reading quiz today, most of the class is not worried but some start to fidget realizing their dreadful mistake in not reading the chapter by choice or forgetfulness. After five minutes of tedious penwork we begin our class in full. Mr. Becker the class with many of his usual beckerisms and the discussion is off to a crawling start. The class is so quiet it is painful to watch. Some simply didn’t read while the others like myself just don’t want to start the conversation. Either way we finally get going, the discussion is all about the books turn for the worst for the anti-hero Winston. Many good points and views are expressed, and many people begin to doze off. As some work furiously to try to make of the other 15% there are few people who just don’t feel like talking. Mr. Becker finally decided to have the class take an oath not to make fun or make anyone feel bad about what they choose to say. Needless to say that still didn’t have the desired effect on the dazed classroom. After I had said my bit and expressed my views about the book I felt much more relieved as I always did having discussions out of the way. Mr. Becker realized we were running out of time as the announcements came on and we prepared ourselves for the horrors of the announcements. As I just finished packing the bell rang and we were released from the dreaded first hour. Everyone rushed for the door as Mr. Becker shouted at us telling us to have a nice day. Needless to say I did.
