Today in Mr. Becker's English IV, Tarah started off by reading Friday's scribe notes. She talked vividly of how excited she was to be starting homecoming weekend and the football game. This started another discussion that everyone was overjoyed with the football game's results. Mr. Becker proceeded with class and told us what was to be expected on our essays. The essay was due after fall break and Mr. Becker received some groans that we might actually have to do something over fall break! Everyone began working on their drafts and outlines and then bringing them to Mr. Becker. After they were approved, he checked them off the list, and five points for them! Ben and I began talking about our nervousness for our history classes, and our psychology tests for college. The rest of the class was pretty silent on their Monday morning, and we left joyfully as the bell rang; we were another hour closer to going home and sleeping from a tiring weekend.

Ashley D. 7th hour.
During the passing period the lights started to flicker in the entire school. It felt like a horror movie because then everyone stood still, wondering what was happening. Then..BAM!! The lights shut off all together. As people in the pitch black bathroom start freaking out, we all rush to the safety of our classrooms. But then again we were hoping the lights would stay off so that we wouldn't have to work and learn. To our disappointment they came back on within two minutes. As we sat in class, we waited for Mr. Becker to get situated to start the class. He talked about the essay due dates for our 1st draft and final copy. The 1st draft is due monday, october 11th, the first day back from fall break (yippy). The final draft is due that friday, october 15th. After he discussed all that, one by one he called us up to his desk to see if we kept our promise from friday. Most people kept their promise but there were some slackers. The rest of the class was spent working on the essays and other homework for that day. It wasn't a very eventful day.

Shelly Hassall hour 1
I proudly walked into class today rememberingit was my turn to be the class scribe. I got out my notebook and started writing. We began class by going over the due dates for when our first drafts and owhen our final copys were due. Then Mr. Becker continued to explain the activities for the up coming days this week. After, we were given the rest of the class period towork on our topic outlines and first drafts. Meanwhile, Mr. Becker was either denying or approving everyones outlines. I was sadly still working on my outline because Mr. Becker denied it and I had to start over. As I sat there wondering what to wrute, I found this topic to get me stuck on finding a third topic to write about. As a smart student would do, I asked for help.Mr. Becker pointed out a very good idea to me that i should have been able to come up with on my own. Thankfully for him i finished my topic outline by the end of the class. The one thing tht seemed to have distracted me the most throughout the entire hour was the temperature of the room. It was freezing! Luckily right after I finished my outline, the bell rang and I was off the second hour.

"Austin W., 4th hour"
I walk into the freezer they call a classroom and I converse with my friend Zach. I sat down after chatting and the bell rang shortly after. Brett asked Mr. Becker if he could use the restroom, I think we’re going to start calling him pea bladder. About two minutes after the bell rang Drew lazily strolled into class. When Brett returned from the restroom he told me that his girlfriend wanted to punch me, of course he was kidding though. Mr. Becker asked the class to take out the text because we were reading the entire hour. As Mr. Becker asked for volunteers readers Zach pointed out that only males seemed to volunteer except Amber. Mr. Becker instructed us to flip to where we left off from the other day when we read. As we were starting to read Zach whines that it’s the Monday after homecoming. Mr. Becker had no sympathy and made a bad joke. As soon as Zac started to read Mr. Becker interrupted demanding some emotion from Zac. He exclaimed that he was confused even though we had done this for a while now. I see heads down, people annotating, or long stares off into space when you glance throughout the room. No one seems to have much interest in the story except Amber. I glance up at Zach and Brett and we made faces at each other quickly and returned to following along in the text. I felt like I could never focus because I had my contacts in. An average day in Mythology sounds similar to a day like this. I don’t look forward to annotating the story or doing scribe notes, but in order to pass I need to.
