It was a bright warm day in August, and the alarms were peircing through the air. I walk into class, my chin nuzzled into my breast, my body attempting to fall asleep as I walk through the doors.
The room smells of resentment. When I walk into the room I am greeted by an enormous face, the face of a man of about twenty- eigtht, with no heavy black mustache, but a freshly buzzed head.
Big brother is watching us through one of the many cameras that line the hallways. He sees our class listen intently as Mr. Becker reads community cards.
Then the books are checked out and an assignment is given. One hears the fruity voice from an oblong metal plaque exclaim:
" In a well written, well organized paragraph, explain how Orwell uses diction, figurative language, and/or imagery at the start of '1984' to develop his vision of the future. Use and cite 2 examples to support your opinion."
Most of the class wishes ever so desperately that they could turn a switch on the telesceren and dim Becker's voice as he describes the importance of avoiding spark notes and actually reading the novel at hand.
As class ends I desire a dark place, where movement cannot be scrutinized, so I can sleep.

Ben D. 3rd hour.
The period began just as the previous five had. The tardy bell rang and we began class. The first thing on the agenda was to read the previous day's scribe notes. After the reading of the notes we continued meeting our fellow classmates by means of community cards. Today the class had the privilege of meeting Dan and Jared. We learned Dan was a good bowler and Jared liked to fish and was an eagle scout. Mr. Becker asked for a fishing tale and we received one about the time Nick and Jared's boat blew to back of the lake. When we finished reading cards we were assigned our copies of the novel "1984", George Orwell. Mr. Becker then told us must read pages five through nine before completing an assignment. We began reading the assigned pages. We were then told to complete a short writing over these pages. The prompt for this assignment was to show how Orwell used diction, figurative language, and imagery to convey his vision of the future. We all quietly began writing. We stopped, just like every other day, by the bell. It was time to go.

Jamyra D, 1st hour: Happily walking into class with empty desk surrounding me and Mr.Becker putting the scribe note schedule on the back board. as the bell rings those empty desk start to fill up with students ready to learn. Class begins and Mr. Becker decides to get out flash cards and get to know his students in his first hour a little better, he pulls a card, all you see are students standing up and sitting down as he reads the statements on the cards. The last statement is read and only one student is left standing. As Mr.Becker ask that student random questions he would like to know about them the student sits back down and shyly answers the questions in a soft tone. We are done with the flash card Mr.Becker clearly explains what we will be doing today, he opens up a document on the smart board and starts reading the objective and lesson plan for the hour. When he was done reading the passage he hands out our novels that we will be reading "1984" by George Orwell. We had to read pages 5 through 8, i wasn't to excited about reading but when i saw the cover of the book i got a little more excited because it seemed like something interesting to read. As everyone started to pickup there books and getting there pen and pencils out to start. The room was ghostly quiet with everyone concentrating on reading and writing. A couple minutes before the bell rings all i hear around me are books opening and closing and papers being put away. The bell finally rings and all i see are students hurrying out of their seat to get to there next class on time.

Everybody starts coming into class and has to pick up a writing response paper then Mr.Becker comes in and ask for our paragraphs we did yesterday. Then we have to get in front of the class to get in our new seating chart which i probably wont like... so I lied my seat is not that bad (ha ha) Now Mr. Becker is talking about how we are not doing the scribe notes right mmm that's no bueno. Anyways back to community cards Mr. Becker is trying to remember names by faces & the cards he is not doing that good. I give him an A for effort now we are going over and discussing the response writing. we have homework ohhh what joy! Mr. Becker almost busted through the wall like kool-aid man. We are going over the discussion grades and he didn't put it on scouts honers because he is not a poser if you do your work you will be fine in the class. I hope. YESS ! I get to read the novel 1984 pgs 5-34 for homework i cant wait. (ha ha) so e end the class period with homework mmm I say that's a good class to me
