Janna Kannard 1st hour: As the beginning of the Tuesday school day was about to begin, I walked into class and only had one thing on my mind… it’s discussion day. As I sat at my seat pondering about what I had read the night before and what I could bring up in class, my mind went blank. I had no clue what to bring up in the discussion to earn my points for the day. I looked around the room at my fellow classmates and they too also look puzzled and uneasy about the topic of discussion that would consume the entire 55 minutes that we were about to endure. Just as I was observing the class, it hit me, today was the day, it was my day to write the scribe notes. With a friendly reminder from Mr. Becker, I opened my folder and retrieved a blank sheet of paper to start my note taking for the day. After the normal routine of taking attendance, Mr. Becker asked for everyone that wrote a response to place it on their desks so he could make his rounds to check them with his purple highlighter. But before the discussion could official start, as Mr. Becker is checking my classmates’ responses, he reminds us about the connections assignment and gives us helpful hints to ensure us a better grade. As he pauses for questions the whole class grows silent again because they know what is next on the to-do list of the class. The discussion is to start next as Mr. Becker sharpens his pencil and grabs his book and seating chart and sits in the front of the class. First he asks for any questions about the reading and what we want to talk about. The class is silent. At 7:30 we are not awake enough to hold a conversation about a book that doesn’t hold the attention of my classmates very well. But finally someone asks a question to break the ice of the silence. But after those questions and opinions died down it was hard to get the discussion going again. Mr. Becker was confused if we were just tired or if we came to class unprepared. Another question arose from the filled desks of the room and in order to answer the question, we went to the text. While Mr. Becker read from the book with much voice inflection the rest of us followed along and listened. As the class came to an end, people expressed their final thought and began to gather their things together to ensure a faster get away, but Mr. Becker still didn’t want the conversation to come to an end. We all exchanged stares, waiting for someone to bring up another point of discussion and finally looking up from my note taking I explained to Mr. Becker that I was confused about “Doublethink”. Just as he was about to answer my question, the announcement bell rings and the words of upcoming events and sports games poured out of Mrs. Cissel’s mouth. Everyone grew silent either tuning her out because the don’t really care about the news of our school or listening intently to see what new club they could be involved in next. When the announcements were over and the bell rang to end class, it was only a matter of seconds before the students were gone and it was just Mr. Becker left with a bunch of empty desks.

Yet just another dull tuesday with nothing of interest happining. As I walked into class I relized "Oh my god! its my day to take notes!" And it was. Now im not going to lie, I was a wee bit nervious about the whole thing. I've never done anything like this before so...Yeah. Anyway, I guess the first thing of importance to know is that Mr. Becker quickly reviewed the Connections project we all have to do before the end of the semister. I've had an idea about what to do for mine for weeks but i dont want to go first, so i will just have to wait. Then things briefly got off topic as everyone shared their excitement about tomrrows (Yesterday's) half day. Then, for the oddest reason we(most of the class) grew up watching "Blue's Clue's". For the life of me i cant think of how that happined. But for real dose anyone know? Really? After everyone settled down we started
discussion number three, over 1984. I recognized 3 main points out of this discussion. First was Winston's fast and Dramadic change from a quiet,no one, to a resilient anti-Big Brother knda guy. Second was how his physical health relates to he's feelings deep inside. Finily we talked about how simple it was for "The Party" to control the Prols. That was about it for the day, So i got nothing elese to say.
P.S. "YES! I did get a rhyme into this thing! Score one for me!"
