Ashley W., 3rd hour So I when I walk into class and I see 1984 laying on the table along with 2 other pieces of paper. Instantly in my head I think noooo not 1984 again! We found out that we didn't have to read it again, but we did have to do an assignment with it. Then class started. We started off with Taylors connection, which was herself to Rebecca. Which was pretty interesting. She basically threw herself under the bus and confessed how she really was to the whole class. We then learned that our constructed response portion of our final is next Monday and Tuesday. Then we reviewed terms that were important in the prompt for the constructed response. Which were tone, theme, diction, and figurative language. We got a list of tone words, and a breakdown of theme. Then we got into small groups of 2 and a chart to do our assignment. We had to find the theme and tone of 1984 and Rebecca and find examples of figurative language and diction for the tones and themes of each book. It is due Friday so we can talk about it and get a better idea of what to expect for our constructed response. The bell rang and we all slowly exited class on the dreary cold day.
Taylor Ward. 3rd hour Today was our last discussion. Before we started our discussion Angie did her connection to Rebecca. She used the movie the shining. We then took a one question quiz to prove we finished the book. We discussed about Maxim and Jack talking to the colonel about the killing of Rebecca. We talked about how we believed Mrs. Danvers and Jack were probably the ones that burned Manderly down. We also talked about how we felt about Maxim killing someone and how the narrator stayed with him. Another thing we discussed was how Rebecca was supposed to go see a doctor and that she only had a short period of time to live. Rebecca had cancer and she couldn't have children. She had lied to Maxim about having a child. We also talked about Rebeccas true colors and how she had people on her side. In the end Jack didn't give good enough evidence so Rebeccas death was still considered a suicide and Maxim was let off the hook.
